Why I Offer Candid Family Photography (And What It Can Mean for You)

A photojournalist’s heart, an artist’s eye, and a listener’s presence

There’s something extraordinary about documenting a family just as they are—without posing, staging, or stepping out of the moment to say “cheese.” That’s the heart of my candid family photography: capturing the quiet, everyday beauty that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Some of the most meaningful images come not from a perfectly planned shoot, but from letting your life unfold in its natural rhythm—whether that means a few slow hours at home or a full day of connection.

What Makes These Sessions Different

Part photojournalist, part artist, part observer

My background is rooted in art, but also in curiosity and care. I’ve always been drawn to seeing the world through someone else’s eyes—and photography lets me reflect that back to people.

When I photograph families, I don’t direct or orchestrate. I simply observe. I stay quiet. I watch for the moments that reveal something true: the way your child reaches for your hand, the concentration of a game, the mess of pancake batter on a weekend morning.

These photos are about truth, not performance.

Why Choose a Full Day?

A full-day session might sound like a big commitment, but: you don’t have to do anything special. In fact, the less you plan, the better.

Cook something with your kids. Watch a movie. Go for a walk. Sit in the yard. Be together the way you already are.

The beauty of this kind of session is that you don’t have to think about the camera. There’s no pressure to entertain or look a certain way. Kids settle in at their own pace. You get to be fully present with each other, maybe more so than usual.

Instead of rushing through a list of poses or trying to capture one perfect moment, we get to honor the full rhythm of your life. It becomes a time capsule—an honest, beautiful record of what this season felt like.
